Discussion: BC heatwave

Not sure if you've been following the developing heatwave in BC (and adjacent provinces/states)? Looks to me like a completely off-the-scale event reminiscent of central Europe 2003 (hopefully without the same consequences) - hard to imagine 40+ in the suburbs of Vancouver but it looks very possible.

It's happening. 39 on our deck at 2:00 pm Saturday in New Westminster.

I remember a month or two ago my colleague commented to me that the seasonal models showed a 80% chance of record temperature for western North America. I remember being very sceptical that a seasonal forecast could have such a strong signal.

My meteorologists friend in Vancouver managed to score an air conditioner 30% off even when the heatwave was in the short term forecast. Inside trading!
