Hi, I've been trying to get familiar with the SportIdent orienteering app, and I was wondering if someone who knows the app better knows how to import a .ppen or .xml file from Purple Pen to be read by the app as a course? If anyone has experience here I'd appreciate any help!

As an initial answer (as I do not know the SI application and I'm sure many others can provide more detail), Purple Pen File->Create Data Exchange File (IOF XML) allows you to export the course files in standard IOF XML (either V2.0.3 or V3.0). I would have to assume SI can use these directly as they are the standards.

That functionality is specific to OCAD as a partnership with Sportsident as I’m seeing it. So it depends on what you’re trying to accomplish. If you’re trying to cut out OCAD entirely it’s unclear if you can connect to Sportsident outside of OCAD’s embedded upload function. But the larger issue would be trying to convert xml to ocd, don’t believe that’s possible as I think ocd is proprietary.

The app can import courses from OCAD, therefore if you export an OCAD file of your course from Purple Pen, you should then be able to import it into the Sportident app.

Yes, sorry PP you can export an ocd file forgot about that. So the real issue is there does not appear to be a way to upload a file outside of the OCAD embedded function. Even on SportsIdent website, it only says about uploading thru OCAD, I see no direct upload function on the site.
