Only practice. Build confidence reading and running. Start with:
-"Double Vision". Reading anything and running
-"Double Vision +" Reading anything and running with uneven terrain.
-"Dynamic Zoom Map reading:" Moments of double vision coupled with map memorization.
-"Dynamic Zoom Map reading +" DMR coupled with optical flow (finding objects in the field).
And an interesting point made by the ZMR technique coach is:
Running training without map reading, has the potential for actual negative overall benefits. The justification: can have the effect of "uncoupling" running speed and cadence of map reading. I think perhaps there might be some truth to this potential at some point. I suppose the there are other factors of course, but the concept of simply getting better at reading and running is probably a good emphasis for foundational skill.
