Dear Orienteering friend,
The Maccabiah Games, which are organized every four years in Israel under the auspices of the Maccabi Federation, is an international Jewish athletic event similar to the Olympics. The event is named for the Jewish warrior, Judah Maccabee, who fought against the ancient Greeks.
Despite few unsuccessful attempts to be included in the last Maccabiah Games, we hope that in the next Maccabiah Games in 2022, we will introduce and organize Orienteering, as a competitive sport for the first time at last! We don't give up!
In order to be part of the coming Maccabiah games, we need to register at least 25 orienteers from at least 4 countries, in addition to Israel. We know that there are Jewish orienteers in many countries and we would like you to get in touch with them as soon as possible. If you are an orienteer yourself, or you know other Jewish orienteers, please forward this letter them. Your help will be most appreciated! This time, it all depends on each and every one of us all!
Right now and very urgent, we need back in Israel, a clear statement from each potential participant around the world, stating that he/she intends to take part in the next Maccabiah. Please reply to this email with details (name, home address, phone number, e-mail, age and gender), so that we know your intention.
We will add you to the list of potential competitors, and keep you updated about our progress in introducing orienteering at the 21st Maccabiah Games.
We need an answer by the end of this month, August 2020!
