The website points us to the event hotel, the new Hilton Garden Inn, and has an enticing price of $99 that includes breakfast. I just called the number (and was sent off to a central booking number; luckily they did have the discount in their system), but I was told the $99 rate *does not* include breakfast. To get breakfast I'd have to pay $132.
Anyone else have that experience? I booked the non-breakfast option but will likely look around for other options too.
That was a miscommunication, I think, and DVOA is currently looking at other options in the area that include breakfast. Hampton Inn is one.
Stay tuned in case they find a deal.
(If you are enough of a Hilton Honors rewards member to reach the Gold level, breakfast is free at all properties.)
I finally joined Hilton Honors when I stayed at a Hampton Inn near the Python mini-rogaine last fall. But I'm not sniffin' Gold because so far that's my only Hilton-family stay. But seriously, what's with Hilton and their perks? I stay at my usual cheapo motel (say, Super 8), and Wifi is always free and breakfast almost always. But if I stay at a fancy-pants Hilton, I gotta join the club to get Wifi and I gotta pay for breakfast???
My mom wanted to stay Sat night so I got a Hampton Inn near Limerick which includes breakfast. With my AAA rate is about $123 including all the taxes and such. There's not much that's great in the Morgantown direction (just Holiday Inn which is under renovation and does not include breakfast). There's also a Holiday Inn Express near Limerick which has breakfast but the rate was significantly more.
I booked the Springhill Suites right next door to the Hilton Garden Inn; breakfast is included and the rate is $91/night for a king + trundle twin or $99 for two queens and a trundle twin.
I always check the Hampton Inns for the above reasons, but it was a little more expensive.
Update from Mary Frank is that the Hilton Garden Inn in Exton will honor the $99/night rate with full breakfast. Those calling and requesting the orienteering group booking will receive breakfast coupons upon check-in.
I'm unsure of their breakfast hours on weekends (esp. Sunday).
