***this isn't a paid commerical endorsement***

On Spike's blog I first read about O-sport magazine, a glossy journal of European competitive orienteering.

It looked great from the webpage, but it looks even better in person.

I've heard that it was diffcult to subscribe, however, by using the Brit subscription agent Compass Point, ordering was a breeze.

One drawback is that subscriptions outside Europe are in the area of 50 euro, but I think the maps and routes alone are worth it.

I can only second the endorsement. The quality of the magazine is quite outstanding, with a number of high-resolution, full-page maps, analyses, interviews, country presentations etc

Hehe, I agree with all of the above from my personal experience. However, I got a ride to the Oringen last year with two of the editors of Skogssport (the big Swedish O-magazine) and they said that O-Sport was a junk magazine that just copied all their articles from other people.

I just think they are a bit too competitive. From the issues I have seen, O-Sport is a great magazine, and as far as I know the only magazine in English that covers Elite Orienteering around the world. I hope to get a subscription for Christmas!

O-Sport beats Skogssport hands down... and... O-Sport is IN ENGLISH! The quality of original material is uneven though, I'll grant that.

O-Sport is an totaly different magazine than the Swedish Skogssport. Yes, they do pick up their content from the most variuos places but as far as I have seen they do almost always mention the source when something is "stolen".
And, as Jfredrickson pointed out, they're the only magazine in English covering Elite orienteering all over the globe. The amount of map samples and route choices are excelent, and their interviews are good too. I think they earn all attention and subscribers they can get to their magazine.
Go O-Sport!
