Thank you so much to all of the volunteers who put this on - from the forest to computers, permits to event center, and an amazing day of operations. You enabled hundreds of hours of orienteering adventure and an impressively close, spectator friendly relay that once again rewarded the many competitors who made their way out to the event!

Good job! It shows what relatively small clubs can do.

@peggyd: hear, hear!

Special thanks to Brad Whitmore for courses and Relays, thanks to SVO.
We used to have N-E Championships, may have to revitalize that, with same format relays.

Hmm, more relays, haven't heard that comment in a long while....(I agree).
Wishing I could get to Jukola again.

I love relays, too. But, it seems like you won't get good attendance in the US for a relay by itself on a given day. It has to be a package deal.

A Relay Package perhaps??
Make it longer, have everyone run several legs, have three relays in a weekend etc.
Oh, and night O...

@bubo

Why are relays still interesting in Europe? They are divided by class, say Men (or Women), children, juniors and masters are all separate courses/competitions, if some of these choose (and allowed) to be in the 21-35 age class, there is no special privilege to them, ---- just like it is still the case at WOC. Then members of a club form a team, so there is rivalry among clubs/regions.

In America this principle was destroyed long ago, a relay team must be a mix of all ages/genders, to satisfy liberal-progressive agenda, with different categories assigned different privilege points. You do not compete face-to-face , and the one who finishes first is not necessarily the winner.

That is what ruined it.

I don't think you were here in 1990, when the old relay format had its last outing. At that point it was already ruined. Then it went to a single relay category with mixed teams and it was revitalized for a number of years. Eventually a few more categories were added, and interest also waned, but those two things are not necessarily related.
