How does rogaining in general, and this one in particular, determine age? Actual age on event day? December 31? (Doesn't really make a difference for me this time around, unless there is some weird event that draws a distinction between 68 and 69, but it would be good to know.)

And when it's a 24-hour event? ;-)

Only matters if your birthday happens to be on one of the days, in which case you buy everyone cake.

Incorrect tRicky, you carry the cake and hand it out to every team you see.

tRicky:
I think that's the setters' job, except they seem to hide when our team comes past.

I did the 2014 World Rogaining Champs on my birthday (Saturday) but it didn't make a difference to our category.

My amazing teammate Browner snuck a little cake in her pack and secretly decorated it when I wasn't looking.

The Python will use your age on the day of the event. I look forward to tRicky's cake! Hope customs allows it through.

I don't think it counts just because it's exactly five months after my actual birthday.

jjcote:
Yeah, but I think five metric months equals six US months, and then since you're from the southern hemisphere which is off by six months, it comes out to be the same. Right?

tRicky:
Wouldn't the fact I'm in the southern hemisphere mean that 6 months is actually 9 months in the north?
