With less than four weeks to The Odyssey, the deer flies are on the wane and the beavers are working overtime transforming the landscape. Wolf Lake State Forest is one of the lesser known gems in the New York state forest system. Having 17.5 km2 and a narrow “crazy-eight” trail system from southwest to northeast, this venue, having large sections with no trails for those who like to go rogue, should advantage the orienteer with good navigational skills over the pure runner.

We have planned the event to allow for great flexibility: start anytime between 8:30 and 11 am; create your own route; choose which controls you visit; stay out as little or as long as you like, up to six hours. Wolf Lake State Forest has diversity of terrain and some beautiful vistas. While a bit far afield, it will be worth the trip. Let us be your tour guides.
