Excited to bring this race to you as well. We've worked tirelessly (a few phone calls and in person meetings with park authorities with some groveling and massaging) to open up Kensington MetroPark to hopefully the beginning of a new era with orienteering being more available at Detroit area metroparks.

This event will be a 3hr Score O paddle only event. Full details will be announced on our site in the coming days.

Looks good. Nice reservoir.
Is there any resources or guidelines about staging canoe/ kayak orienteering events in the US.
Our club in Florida is ramping up to stage an event or two in some of the great canoe/kayak areas we have along the Suncoast. Placing control points in tidal areas may be an interesting challenge.

It would be helpful for the Events page of the OUSA site to have a listing for paddle events just like the listings they have for rogaine, ski and bike.
Now there is just a mention under "other" events that includes some events from 2011. Our NEOOC club holds a paddle event each year that attracts folks from outside our sport.
Glad to hear that there will be an event in Michigan!

There used to be a web page with advice about putting on canoe-O meets, but it was on geocities (https://web.archive.org/web/20091027010801/http://...) and it got bulldozed. And the backup was on a work computer that was lost when Aims retired.

His one piece of advice when I asked him just now was that anyone putting on a canoe-O should have participated in (and ideally directed) both an orienteering meet and a canoe race.

Glitches in the OUSA site are keeping me from publishing/creating a paddle-O page; not sure when it will be available.

We were able to make some changes and will now allow personal boats.
