I am looking at the Stockholm Marathon as a possible race. I am trying to average 50m./week. I would like to get up to 70, but have never run that much in my life in a week (except for crazy race weeks). Motivation and time are the enemies.

Enemy # 3 for me is getting older. My feet were starting to give me problems last fall when I upped my mileage. I hope to retire soon to conquer the time enemy. But you can do it!

I'm trying to stay in the 40-50 mpw range right now. Much more than that and I know I'll put myself at risk. Most of that in one or two long slow days, a couple shorter days midweek and most importantly 3 rest days a week.

Can't do much about time, always older, but we see stories of guys in there 60's and 80's who run marathons faster than I ever have, or will.
I have read some training stuff lately that recommends one does 3 times the distance per week of the race distance they are training for. That seemed to be true for me, 13.1 mile races were never too much, but that fits nicely into the 40 miles per week I typically train. Three times Marathon distance is a reach for me.

35 - 50 miles is all I can do - timewise - from spring to fall, when I can run trails, as opposed to pavement. Would love to be able to run 70 miles per week though.
