Discussion: On Line Entry - No Down Payment

Suncoast Orienteering in Florida is trying something new for all its events coming up in the next four months. Suncoast Orienteering events take place on the west coast of Florida north and south of Tampa Bay.
Building on the success of on-line entries by the large number of JROTC entries we have added pages to capture advance entries for scout groups and the general public INCLUDING VISITING SNOWBIRDS!
No advance payment is needed with the advance entry. You'll just show up, pay your fee, sign the waiver, get your map and go. The payoff for us is shorter registration lines and being able to input entry information to the timing program ahead of time
See for yourself the entry form for Whispering Pines on Jan 13 and while you are at it look at the fantastic number of JROTC entries already on the books.

What about visiting snowflakes? Are they OK?

Rocky Mountain Orienteering Club uses such a system, and it seems to work well.

Yes, that one was a lot of fun: alligators basking in the ponds, giant tortoises (I filmed a video with one), mini-anacondas hanging on the trees. On day 1 I ran a leg with a pack of wild hogs, no kidding.
