Great to finish the season on a high. Reading your log has inspired me, think it would be fun to try out a TT next year.

I think today has had the same effect on me, as most of the season I've been frustratingly around the same standard, that didn't make sense after 4 years off a bike.

The best value upgrade to a standard bike in terms of speed (5% approximate gain) are a pair of clip on aerobars, with elbow rests and bent at the ends to grip more easily on, costing £40-£70, which fit easily onto normal handlebars. Then drop the handlebars as low as is comfortable and move the saddle forwards maybe 3cms and tip the nose down slightly.

Bloody hell Frank, that's outstanding. It must be all of that taper:-)

Hah, hah, almost three weeks of not much cycling has definitely helped. The biggest factor was raising my aerobars to their maximum height, giving a drop of a very modest 50mm (less than my road bike). With shortish legs and a large lung capacity, going lower wasn't helping my leg power and was bordering on effecting my breathing.
