Hello, Orienteering community:

Come participate in a forum for dialog on solutions to orienteering problems!

OUSA invites you to the 2017 Orienteering USA Convention for all members of the US orienteering community on Friday November 10, 2017 in Alexandria, Virginia near Washington DC. The convention will be a full day of presentations and discussions about challenges and solutions, strategies, and future activities among clubs. Most of the convention will consist of 15-to-30-minute short talks on topics pertaining to Event Organization, Marketing and Publicity, Athlete Development and Junior Programs, Web and Technology, and club offerings from OUSA.

The event is scheduled for the Veteran's Day holiday (observed) in the US, immediately precedes the Quantico Orienteering Club's Classic Championships national event, and is from 10 AM to 6 PM to accommodate people arriving that morning.

One of OUSA's major goals is to improve communication among OUSA, the member clubs, and the membership. The convention is a forum for that dialog, and our intent is for clubs to come out of the convention with actionable information on how to implement development, junior programs, marketing and publicity, technology solutions, and OUSA offerings.

I encourage people to attend in person whenever possible, but we will also be posting the talks and information on youtube and the website to be accessed later. We are also hoping to live stream the talks for those who cannot attend in person. The event is free for OUSA members, and $10 for non-members. Everyone is welcome, whether you are affiliated with a US club or not (e.g. Canadians). Online registration will open once details for a box lunch (~$10) are finalized.

Call for speakers:
If you have a topic pertinent to the orienteering community that you would like to give a 15-20 minute talk about, please contact Ian Smith at iamsinht@gmail.com. Clubs in the US have many common problems, and we're eager to learn and share what solutions people have found. We are hoping to have 20-25 speakers.
