This week is our last park race! Please note: the race is on THURSDAY this week, not Wednesday.

FOOD!
Most importantly, we will be having a potluck dinner after this race. Sara Mae is going to try and control the chaos. Please email her what you intend to bring (ping me if you need her email), so that she can coordinate this into something resembling an actual dinner. If you don't know what to bring, ask Sara Mae. She'll have a suggestion. Larry is looking into whether or not we can use the grill at the shelter, but if we can, somebody could bring things to grill... I'd suggest bring your own plate/fork to cut down on waste, but I'm a hippy like that.

Format
We'll be doing a reverse start, based on your points from the previous park races. We'll be starting in pretty tight clumps, four* at a time, so definitely check your control codes, because there is forking and butterflies and who knows what else. Somebody will have the fastest time of the day, but the first person across the line wins the prize. The prize may be edible, or it may just be eternal glory and induction into the hall of CSU fame that lives in Larry's basement. Time and Alex's schedule will tell.

Points
What I did this year, instead of dealing with times, was to just assign place-based points, so you got many more points if you attended a lightly-attended race... not a perfect system, but it'll do! I'll have the full points list printed out at the venue, but for those who are dying to know where you stand, here is the spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11u5KCPd1pm...
I don't seem to have any results for Nahanton... so I left it out.

If you haven't done any Park Races, you'll be starting after the Chase.

*For anyone who is in an overall points tie, you'll start with your tie-buddy in the same heat.

Timing
The start window remains 6-7pm, if you don't want to play in the mass start. The courses still close at 7:30. There is a beginner's course. But, the heats will start going off at 6:10pm, at 30-second intervals. If you miss your start, that's fine, but you're much less likely to win the overall race.

Sprint Camp
This Thursday is also the first day of the 2017 Boston Sprint Camp. Still time to sign up! Website: https://www.facebook.com/events/1024972297609024/
The Sprint Camp attendees will be doing the same course, in the same format, after those doing just the Park Series chase have started. If you're already signed up for Sprint Camp, but you've done some Park Races, you'll start in the Park Race chase.

About Pine Banks
Pine Banks is mostly wooded, with hills and rocks and blueberries and things. You'll want leg covering and orienteering shoes, most likely.

See you there!!
