Lots of people crossed it. Apparently it's mapped as uncrossable because it used to be much higher, and they have now chopped it in half; the map hasn't been updated to reflect that.

I think the symbol means you are not allowed to cross -rather than its too difficult. I went to the Fin 5 which accompanied a WOC. The town was quite straight forward and the serious sprint racers had drawn maps to study possible route courses. The organisers however put out 1.5km of 'uncrossable' crowd control barriers, blocking streets, putting in lanes etc. So much for preparation!
I understand why folk go wrong when its one of these 'anoracks' urban mapping symbol issues but why would anyone knowingly cross a wall to get a good time in an evening level D event?
