Looks pretty awesome! Do you "run" these in CF or something else?

Not CF this time. I played with the brand new version of Osimu - Suunnistussimulaattori.

http://www.suunnistussimulaattori.net/portal/index...

It's written by a friend of mine, a guy from the club with the impossible name to pronounce (Rajamäen Rykmentti). Few months ago I sent him the source code of my random map generator, he integrated it to this version he released few days ago. it is capable of doing different kind of terrains, for example this terrain type is pretty cool too:

This map generator integration was the reason I had to try it - I suck in playing - I guess I am to old...

Looks interesting. How does it compare with CF in terms of gameplay and graphics and stuff?

I haven't played much with it, but:

- You need to run longer time to get somewhere. In CF
you ran over everything and out of the map in no-time,
here you need to push forward and wait for a feature
to appear.
- I think graphics are these nordic only, you can't
put what ever textures you like, like you can with CF.
- Running speeds (uphill/downhill/cliffs/road/green
etc) feel quite natural. The guy has been running a
lot of O races with FRWD gps and he used the data to
set speeds right. It feels like he has succeeded
pretty well.
- It may be something to do with my graphics settings,
but I feel like refresh rate is better in CF
- Graphics are pretty nice. Some things are done in a
better way than in CF (cliffs, stones, fuzzy border
between bare rock and white forest), but not all
(water etc are better in CF). Also with CF you can do
just about anything, if you know how to, here you have
to live with the default stuff.
- in CF you can rotate map by pressing 'R'. Here you
don't have such a key (or I haven't find it), i have
to rotate map myself with two buttons (left-right).
- CF has better replay system, comps etc.
- CF has been out there for a long time, it's pretty
solid and polished game these days. This other one is
new, still some features are missing or not done in as
professional way as in CF.

Overall I think as a game to be played with friends
that just remotely reminds of orienteering CF is
better. But this other one may feel closer to the real
Nordic style orienteering out-of-the-box. And we must
remember a game doesn't have to be half as good as CF
to be a excellent game. We must remember CF quite
remarkable piece of software.

You can download an try it. I can help if you need
some hints with Finnish terms.
