Delyn:
SPORTident BSx7/8 firmware 656 was released Oct 5.
Release Notes
There was some issues with battery consumption much greater than normal in the previous firmware even in sleep mode when the units were not turned on. Recommendation would be to update as soon as you are able.

Use their SPORTIdent Config+ software and run check for updates and it finds the latest firmware. From toolbar Help>Check for frimware updates...

On their website under products >> software

I was having trouble with Config+ recognizing there was updated firmware. It kept insisting my units were up to date with 649 even though I knew 656 was available.

I contacted Sportident and they were real helpful and told me how to work around the config+ issue I was having. Turns out I wasn't the only one because the issue was discussed in their "forum" and the fix was published there though you have to know to look there. Basically the fix is:

1. Close all instances of Config+.
2. Use your file manager to navigate to %appdata%\SPORTident\Config.
3. Delete the folder “updates”.
4. Delete the file “SPORTident.ConfigPlus.settings”.
5. You need to have an active internet connection
6. Start Config+. It should download the latest firmware package.
7. Connect your device, switch to the firmware view. Latest firmware should be available.

I went through all the steps and it works. Now Config+ recognizes my units are not up to date will install 656

Not sure if this is a good thing, a bad thing or just a thing.

I did the update a month ago or so. At the time I noticed that we had a few units that were giving the low battery warning when I put them in service mode. When I finally sat down to sort them out this week they were no longer giving that warning (but were still usable).

Has anyone else noticed this ?

Thanks - I should have RTFM

Probably this that changed things for me:
"Optimized power consumption, enhanced battery consumption counter accuracy"
