So the Canadian WOC team trials are supposed to be happening. I am surprised there are no posts about it here. It looks like it's this set of races:

https://eventor.orientering.se/Events/Show/11999

https://eventor.orientering.se/Events/Show/12002

At least all the people are there. There are already some results:

Are there selection rules somewhere / does anyone know how the starting slots are chosen?

Will, you can find the selection policy here : http://www.orienteering.ca/pdfs/2016/2016-2017WOCW...

I don't know the details of the policy this year because I am no longer on our High Performance Committee and I've chosen not to try for the team this year. That said I do know that, like in the past it's a tiered selection - if you performed to a certain standard at WOC last year you are automatically selected and last year's Canadian Champs counted to select one sprint position. I believe that for the men the winner of the middle this weekend will race the middle at WOC and the winner of the long will race the long at WOC.

Except if the same man wins both the middle and the long, then he has to choose one of the two and then for the other race the runner-up is selected instead.

For the starting slots, I suspect the athletes just signed up for these races and were assigned random start times by the Swedish organizers. But I may be wrong.

Middle results

So looks like Damian for the long, Eric for the middle, Will+Damian+Robbie for the sprint, and Damian+Eric+Brent for the forest relay.

Now, what's going on with the women? Louise qualified for the long and Emily for both long and middle, but what about the rest of the spots?

great team!

Rather bizarrely - or even 110% if you consider that Emma W was invited to join the team

I hope we booked enough accommodation for them all ;-)
