Starts today. All the best tRicky and your young team mates Fergus and Lucy.

Are you saying tRicky doesn't qualify as 'young' any more? :)
17th place for Fergus's first Junior World Champs is a great result.
Lucy had a ten minute blow out on her second last control otherwise she was well up there too. I was just my usual shit self.
Is US team there also? There is nothing on the team's blog.
The US MTBO Team is updating their Facebook page.
Does anyone have the link to the results? I couldn't find it.
US team has three guys and four girls. Tom and Sarah both wore GPS trackers today.
Thanks tR. To save plunging into the bulletins, could you tell us what the rules are in Portugal for off-track travel?
If you're going to do it, don't ride into a hole.
Off track riding is legal anywhere if I remember what TRicky said earlier in the week.
Is that Britain's first MTBO medal in WE ?
No Emily's won medals before. She's ranked #2 in the world.
Off track is allowable through anything except vineyards (yellow with short green stripes), orchards (yellow with green dots) and olive green. They also recommend not going through green mapped forested areas but we already knew that was a bad idea from the model events. White seems okay.
Undy, that dinner blew our budget. Hamish just told me last night when he was doing the budget that we spent 100 Euros on that dinner, compared to around 30-35 on everything else. Suckling pig is now off the menu! As is dinner for the rest of the week if the 160 Euros we have left is anything to go by.
Fergus has backed up his sprint with 15th in the middle. And Lucy, 5th!!! Oldies riding now. All, do you notice the brief gap in postings from tRicky?
Seems the first radio control didn't register Tricky but the second one did. He should be crossing the line any time now.
Emily Benham could be on another ride for a podium position. Currently tracking second after the first radio control
My start was a total fuck up. Organisers were too busy sorting out the SI stick of the girl starting one minute ahead to notice I was waiting for them to put me through. Consequently she started with me instead of a minute ahead and I was too flustered to start properly, ballsing up the 2nd and 3rd controls in the process.
Gruver, what do you mean? I cannot post whilst I'm out riding. We had to hang around for presentations.
I think that was Gruver's point tRicky - you weren't posting on AP, so must have been off riding. (If you were really committed to AP, you would have a decent phone and post updates from out on the course though)
Boltboi, and Benham finished in 2nd, by the huge margin of 3sec. She'll be kicking herself about the overshoot on the way to #1, if I read tracking correctly. Looks like a tricky area, surprised that times are almost all within 150% of the winner's.
She was saying something about losing time to a stick through the derailleur out there or something like that. I'm sure that's what cost me the win too ;-)
Good luck in the long distance
"ballsing up the 2nd and 3rd controls" is that a technical term? kind of like "aiming off"?
No, just didn't execute the plan properly. Granted I did take the route I planned for #2 but didn't notice it went longer than another route and also through a 'difficult' grade track (it was deep mud).
Fergus is the youngest in the junior category by two years. Everyone else his age and even a year older are all riding in the M17 (youth) category.
He'll learn a lot from the experience (and you - hopefully the best bits).
Well done all for the long, careful with the codes Lucy:-). Am having difficulty getting tracking to work all I can see is a topo map. Will we see a relay team for Australia? Who are the riders for USA?
Lucy tore a hole in her rear tyre hence the MP. Aus relay team have a GPS for tmoro.
... and in the race for the Attackpoint Cup, Fergus has opened up a 4min lead over Tomas Puzak! tRicky is out there now, trying to defend the lead against Mark Prior. Can he do it? Yes he's eked out another 2min at half way. Is it enough? Can Lucy riding on a flat tire stay ahead of... who's 3rd for US?
... it's Dave Swanson! He's taken the baton with 12 minutes to catch. But there aren't any intermediate times on the live results. Tracking isn't working for me and the video looks like the silent movies at 2 frames a second. Aaaaargh.
Germany is home, got past Australia. (They too had a mixed team but they ran their girl first). Hey tRicky, you've done your ride, you could be calling the race for us!
And Australia has finished. Woo!
That's gold to Australia (in the Aus / USA showdown).
Gotta get in some practice for bias and distorted reporting to get ready for the Oz coverage of the Olympics. Expecting to see 'Gold medals per capita' frequently until someone smaller than us (like New Zealand) win something.
And USA has finished, overtaking Japan in the process. Hey shall we call this the Pacific Cup? How about the Asia-Pacific Orienteering Cup. APOC. Sort of rolls off the tongue, don't you think?
Rolls off the tongue better than APMTBOC.
We called it the non-Euro Cup. Gold to Aus!
Gruver, you could probably see more online than we could out there.
