Higher than expected number of participants (over 100). We figured that with the school graduation parties, the first summer vacations, the art festival downtown, the Pens game later in the day, the Euro FIFA championship, the neighbor-of-yours-that-has-a-pool-and-invited-you-for-first-dip fantasy, etc etc, we were more on the expectation of 80 participants. The real bonus was that about half of the participants were first-timers in this sport, and more surprisingly, a good number of them chose Brown or Red course, finding all the controls. We are surrounded by experienced outdoorspeople, just waiting to discover the sport of Orienteering.
