Great day for turtles. They were all out on the logs under the bridge from the marina to LBJ park, too...one log had 8 of varying sizes. I thought of Anna, taking SOLs today and probably not out enjoying the wildlife like we were!

Theres an overlook on the river path along the Charles that always has a few turtles at it. Its over an outflow from something, so there is a floating set of buoys encircling it. The turtles love sitting in the sun out in the river on the floating buoys and I always stop to watch them for a bit.
I didn't see any turtles while mapping today, but did find a turkey, a woodchuck (trying to get into the community garden plots), and lots and lots of snakes out in the sun.

Snakes! Anna is going to be jealous she's not coming up for TT.

Perhaps we can round up a bear for Anna at PEEC instead. ;-)

Nice! I had a bear error in a rogaine in NY...pretty cool, though!

A bear error? Seems like there are lots of ways you could go wrong where a bear was involved.

Well, first I saw baby bear and signaled my teammate to stop while we looked for mama. Baby was probably 25m away in some blueberry bushes. Baby eventually ran to mama (thankfully also still in front of us) and they ran off together...in the same direction we wanted to go. So we left at a different angle and added some distance to that leg correcting later on. But the whole encounter was pretty cool! A good type of bear error, as such things might go!

In a B.C. rogaine, we had a bear control - mama and cubs. We waited a short distance away and loudly sang bear songs until they finally moved away from the flag.

In addition to our resident hawk family, our local snake was sunning this morning. It was in the sun along the cement foundation just by the hose. Lyn spotted it when she unwound the hose to wash off some benches. It likes to go up under the shingles of the house along the foundation. Been in that section of the foundation for several years. We don't seem to have any mice wandering in the house. Connection? Not sure, but wish it would go after the voles or whatever is getting the veggies.
