Hmmmm, < 3 weeks to go and still no info on the Gators web site and I get the race info from PG on Attackpoint. Hey Peter, can you find out from them the official dates, locations, format for next year's COCs?

I have taken the liberty to re-post J-Roc's posting from May 13th regarding the Gator Cup (just change Gator Cup with Ontario Champs).

"For my own edification, would there be significantly more people from the US northeast or elsewhere in the US going to the Gator Cup this weekend if it had been on the calendar as far in advance as the typical US A event?"

I hadn't heard of a "one man relay". After doing some web searching, I'm guessing it's a multiple-loop mass start race with a new map on each loop. Is that right?

Basically, that's it. I believe the terms Farsta or O-cross could equally well be used (and I forget what the technical distinction between a Farsta and a Motala is exactly). There should be forking within each loop such that everyone on a given course eventually does all the same legs.

I might have considered going if this had been posted with enthusiasm earlier. But not now... I already made plans to be elsewhere that weekend.

Motala - multiple loops. Competitors run loops in different order, but run all of them by the end.

Farsta - multiple forks. Competitors take different forks on each lap, but run all of them by the end.

Typically, each of these is mass start, although they wouldn't have to be.

The link for the all-you-can-eat buffet seems to be broken. That's the most important piece of information on the site. :)

The Quebec Champs were super late in being announced, they took place the same weekend as the sprint champs for some reason; the Ottawa Interclub were also late in their announcement. Canadian often complain that people from away don't come to their events, but people will only travel if they know about it far enough ahead to make plans.

Unless you're an international jet setter and can fly into events at last minute, Stockholm-NYC-Pawtuckaway sort of thing.

From Nick with regard to the Canadian Champs next August....

"Mid august ( or about twenty'ish )..I will try to get more info by Ontario champs ( early this october )..I really know that conflict in scheduling and also planning play a big role in every orienteer life."
