The following message will be posted on the NSW Rogaining web site www.nswrogaining.org ( web site currently down) and there is also a message from Rob Preston on the NSW Orienteering web site at http://www.nsw.orienteering.asn.au/ brief details about the funeral can be found there.

"NSWRA LOSES A FOUNDING MEMBER

Dianne VanNetten, one of the founders of rogaining in NSW, has recently passed away after an extended illness.

I was introduced to rogaining by Dianne and Bert VanNetten in the early 1980s. They'd been travelling to Victoria for several years to compete in the new sport of rogaining when, along with Jeremy Challacombe and I, they established a rogaining association in NSW. Dianne served variously as president, secretary and treasurer in NSWRA's fledging years and helped to place the Association in the healthy position it is in today.

In life, Dianne was humble, unassuming and blessed with a gift to make everyone feel comfortable in her presence. My life, and the life of many other rogainers has been enriched by knowing her.

Ian Dempsey"

It is indeed a sad time.
