Hi All,
I am pleased to announce the 2016 USA JWOC team selection process. We will be posting it officially on the OUSA web site soon. The document is fairly long so I will give a summary of some of the key changes for next year.

1. Rankings and the three races will have the same point scale. All four scores will still count towards a total and there is not an option to drop a score. With the change in the point scale you can earn 3 points for the 3k bonus.

2. The 3k bonus times have been changed to Men 10:20, women 12:30, that's 5 seconds slower for the men and 15 seconds faster for the women from last year.

3. The selection committee may require an athlete who has been selected to the team or as an alternate and has not hit the 3k time bonus or has performed well bellow their ability to prove at a later date that they can hit the time and their performance is improving.

4. The ranking score will include races on F/M 21 however the ranking values will not be adjusted and will be taken as is.

5. The petition process has been opened up to anyone who would like to submit a petition for a given reason. However the selection process has a very clear process and expectations of what information must be submitted for a petition to be considered further. There is also a rubric that the committee will be using as a tool to evaluate petitions. I recommend that all athlete interested in making the JWOC team make themselves familiar with this section. One of the most significant parts of this is; if you are petitioning to miss the trials races you must hit the 3k bonus time to be eligible to petition.

These are the larger changes for this year. If you have questions you can respond to the thread or email me. This is the time to clarify anything that does not make sense. Thanks
