I did something like this last year to raise a little cash for the US and/or Canadian National Teams.
I'll put $50 on each of the Canadian Relay teams over the US Teams. I need one (and only one!) US supporter to take me on. So it would work like this:
If both Canadian Teams beat both US Teams, you will donate $100 (USD) to the Canadian Team fund. If both US Teams beat both Canadian Teams, I will donate $100 (USD) to the US Team fund. If it's a tie (one win each), we each donate $50 (USD) to our respective team funds.
If you want to do this but wish to remain anonymous, just contact me directly; I will just make a posting that the Challenge is on.
If there is more than one person interested, there is no reason that a second Canadian supporter couldn't take on a second US supporter etc.

So just to clarify Christina - are we officially in a bet; or are you just saying you like the concept?
Really, there is no reason individuals on either side of the 49th couldn't step up to the plate and make their own one-on-one challenges....
Come on all you other WOC alumni.....

Cristina:
I'm up for the bet. And I like the concept. ;-)

One American looking for a Canadian !! To make it interesting if the Canadian is Fraser Ross I'll make it 50$ to the senior team and another 5$ to the junior squad against his 50$

Rosstopher:
any Canadians? or even any particularly foolish Americans that want to lose their money? One American looking to get in on the bet still.

USOF Prez agrees to bet against COF Prez. Are you reading charm?

Cristina:
Looks to me like the Americans are more willing to put their money where their mouth is. Those Canucks are skerd.

Thanks, all, for your fervent interest in the competition and for accepting Ross' challenge to support the teams. It's very motivating to have such an enthusiastic drum beat from back home (i.e. North America)!

Cristina:
For US Team donations, send to:

USOF
PO Box 1444,
Forest Park GA 30298

and make note that the money is for the US Team Fund. There's a printable form here.

As far as I can tell, Team Canada donations should be sent here:

COF
1239 Colgrove Avenue NE
Calgary, Alberta, Canada T2E 5C3

but correct me if I'm wrong!

Thanks Cristina - And since it was a tie my assumption is that is easier if each of us makes the donation to our own National Team?
Same time next year?
Aug 25, 2007 9:49 PM #
Cristina:
Donations to own team sounds good. Just sent mine.

And you're on for next year!
Aug 25, 2007 10:31 PM #
DragonFly:
OK, I'll send mine to the Canadian team. Good job Team Canada and USA!

Yep - that's the right address for the COF:
