The fantasy picks so far have been posted.

It's not too late to join in. Just send your picks to bgranovskiy@yahoo.com

Interesting to note that Hammer, Joe B, and Sergei are all picking someone else to win. Only person with any confidence is Clint, picking himself to win heat 2!

What does it mean that Sergei is not picking himself to win? Last time I recall betting on a sprint, Sergei both won and picked himself to win the Axis Gear Sprint in 2003. If he's not picking himself, then he must be in trouble...

...and he went home with several hundred dollars of cold hard canadian cash (or what American's call monopoly money).

The Loonie is the gold standard now. The USD is more like funny money...

I thought USD was a cereal protocol, but maybe I'm thinking of breakfast.

Since you people are into prognosticating, let's hear your guesses for the Mega:
1) What will the fastest time be (~19 km, ~200 controls)
2) By whom?
3) We have 83 signed up, how many will complete the whole thing?

What's the punching procedure again?
Sep 9, 2005 4:01 AM #
jjcote:
Pin-punching, details to be disclosed when you get there. But it won't be too onerous.

Do you need to punch everything?
It would seem to take ~10-15 minutes of punching-related time if so. (Unless you're fast on the draw.)

Has John F just undergone Frosh week? Or is that a later and drier event in the US? Serious betting issues....

confidence? nope - I'm picking the long-shot so if I do actually get it right, it pays off big-time at the betting window & I can retire on my winnings.. :-)

mega - since the top contenders will be worn out from sprinting on Saturday, I'm going to guess on the order of 2:50 winning time on the mega - as far as winner - I'll go with Hammer on this one... and 75% finishing rate.

Final Sprint Fantasy Standings are posted, thanks to Boris, who writes:

"I finally got around to doing the Final Fantasy standings, so here they are. Please post them and throw a message on attackpoint. There is no winner, since Sandra and Hans tied, and neither of them got any of the tie-breakers right...

Thanks for a great weekend! I am so glad I came - if I was sitting home in Uppsala reading all the stories about the races on attackpoint, I'd probably die of jealousy! This really was a bunch of fantastic events, organized and attended by a bunch of awesome people. As i said, Swedes may be better at orienteering, and they may do more of it, but we sure as hell have more fun in the States!!"

Note that the Commissioner is very pleased to have finished in the top 20.
