Charlie:
Anyone traveling up from NYC for the meet at Pond Mt this Sunday, 5/24? There are a couple of visitors from Europe who will be in Manhattan and who would like to come to the meet.

If they can take the train to New Haven there's a bunch of us going from there. Balter will be in Nee Haven too.

Cool, what time would you leave? Can I use you as contact info for them? The guy's name is Edoardo. He is a friend of Giacomo's.

I don't think we would leave super early, probably around 9, although we could wait till 10 if we had to really given start times. Would probably prefer earlier though. Yup, you can give my details.

Showing off some Metro North virtuosity:

The 7:02am Metro North from Grand Central gets to New Haven at 9:11. Although you could save time by having them take that same train towards New Haven, then have them take the connecting train (at the temporary station at Devon, between Bridgeport and Stratford) towards Waterbury. Meet them at Seymour station at 9:15.

That said, the closest Metro North stations to Kent are on the Harlem line. Dover Plains is closest as the crow flies but Harlem Valley-Wingdale is probably easier by road. It's about 5 miles west of the junction of CT-55 and US-7. There's a 7:50am train from Grand Central that stops there at 9:53am.

(Probability that we go is positive but small, and we couldn't help anyway given the number of smallpeople in the car, so hopefully Becky can help. Or someone coming from the Danbury - Bethel region if they go to Wingdale.)

There is a temporary station between Bridgeport and Stratford?! My mind has been blown!

Correctly. I misspoke: it's between Stratford and Milford.

The best route to Pond Mtn for many HVOers would be I-684 N to NY-22 N, which goes right past Wingdale.

...and continues to NY-55 E to Cnty Rte 22 (Dogtail Corners Rd) N/E to Bulls Bridge in CT at US-7, then N 4 mi to Kent.

I will be leaving Katonah (station on Harlem Line/metro north - 1 hour from Grand Central) at about 9.30 and could pick up and drop off there. Room for 3 in the car. email me at ghckat at yahoo.com if interested.
