One stated desire of the board is to get more "how to" resources on our website. This will make them available to newcomers to the sport. I have searched for some and found only a few that are good. There are quite a few that talk about taking a bearing but throw in declination. If anyone knows of good ones, we should point these out by links on the OUSA website. I just posted a video on UTube called "How to Use Your Orienteering Compass". Others can do better, I am sure. Should we encourage people to make them so that all the basic skills are delineated? Is this worth working on?
I have looked at her things and some are good. I may not have found the best.
Peter, could you please post a link. Thank you.
The Irish Orienteering Association has invested a lot of resources in
these.
The 10 Elements of Orienteering are ideal introductory videos.
Think these are great - not my state but great resource.

I just watched a series of 4 (5?) by someone. Dammit, but my work computer won't let me find it. It was a dad and daughter, and me being a beginner, they were very great. They used that computer program Catching Features in the video.
Found it! Can't watch it here, but pretty sure this is the person who uploaded them: Kelsey Breseman.
Hell, I might have found them from OUSA's site!
And to your last question, as an ultra-newbie: Yes, so worth it!
Something
HERE from Orienteering Australia
Jim - I think that's duplicates!!
The OA videos are good.
This one is by a 12yo British boy, and
this one is French - not really instructional but good for inspiring very young kids.
@mjtyson do you maybe mean Rick and Kelsey Breseman's videos? This is one of them, and I absolutely love them, very well done.

@andreais, yup, those are it. Love them. Tried to use the computer program, but my Win8 machine doesn't like it. :(
