Does anybody know if by any chance they really have pines, like in a runnable pine forest? Still hoping to find one in North America..

The terrain is hemlock and oak forest with some rock features and with a modest xc ski trail network. The event name comes from Pineridge XC Center which is the landowner of much of the mapped area. Expect terrain more typical of the northeast US.

In the pines in the pines
Where the sun never shines
Where we go running when we want to hide
Away from the sky away from the light
Where the overgrown branches conceal what's inside

There is an area in New Jersey called Pine Barrens. At least part of it has been mapped and used for competition by DVOA.
Ottawa has Torbolton Forest which is pine forest on sand dune terrain.
I think SDO terrain around My Palomar is largely pine forest. It is wide open.

The Lake Tahoe area is largely Ponderosa and Jeffrey Pines. Runnability is certainly a subjective measurement, but Little Truckee Summit, where BAOC will have an A meet in September, is pretty runnable. That is, unless you factor in the altitude.

Thank you everybody! I am definitely learning staff. Too bad it is too late for planning for Yukon this year. Hopefully have a few left for exploring.
