I may have a lot of structural defects, but this is not one of them -- no bent fingers. Maybe some thorn left inside and irritating the joint. I'm sure that's what you suspected to start with.
No Vikings on this side of the tree. I have a slightly bent pinkie but from a different malady. Try another opinion.
Nothing here. I can't straighten my thumb, but that's cause a fat guy sat on it.
Lyn got a thorn in her finger at Tyler. Got some out but kept getting more swollen and calloused. Finally dug out a tiny piece in the joint. Much better since. You sure there isn't a bit still there?
All curved? Perhaps that's where it came from.
Bummer to hear about the finger. My labmate and training friend Henrik (definitely a modern viking) just got the collagenase treatment for his recurring pinky finger version of this and was satisfied with the outcome.
There was a lot of pain for him before the treatment, so I think the injection and splinting of the joint afterward was worth it.
Ken - I'm a monkey's uncle if that's Dupuytren's which, I'm thinking, is exclusively a palmar phenomenon. I have a hard time believing an orthopedist would call it that (if it was one you saw). The thorn could have kicked up a low grade infection with resultant inflammation and some scarring causing adhesion between the flexor tendon and its surrounding sheath. It probably will need an injection with splinting - a surgical opinion (vs medical). "A thorny little problem"...good example of such.
Probably best to preemptively amputate to avoid further complications.
