The chores have begun :) 5 hrs today, just to prep for tomorrow's work. Lots of good vibes though. All 4 fish survived and are swimming and eating heartily. I planted the spuds, took in the bed covers, consolidated the firewood stacks, thatched the window boxes and deck planters, filled the bird feeder, watered everything and played with the cat. The columbine has sprouted!

I took the leaf mulch off the garlic a week ago and it has greened up nicely. The Russian kale looks tremendously better after 2 weeks under the cover (before and after)

On deck for tomorrow: mend the netting around the lower onions, finish pruning the rose bushes, install the watering system in the garlic bed before things get out of hand, take out the pond breather and put in the fountain pump and UV filter. Dreading that last job...reaching shoulder deep into ice cold water to dig out handfulls of muck. Mmmm.

I'm having a tough time with the seedlings this year. Not sure what's going on. Only managed 5 tomato plants and some basil so far. The other toms, bell peppers and asparagus all failed to germinate. I checked the soil pH and it was fine. Maybe too dense. The cat knocked some of them over too. After a month I started again, with different soil this time. Its been a week with the new starts and still no sprouts.
