Nice. And good idea putting some text on there even though it may not really seem necessary. Looking at this reminds me of an incident that happened in a ski marathon several years ago... The organizers had put up directional signs at some of the intersections to indicate which way the course went. They were essentially a lower-tech version of this. When the upper of the two fasteners somehow came loose on one of them, leaving the sign attached only by the lower one... and there was no text... and nobody was carrying a map... well you can just imagine the result.

Are these permanent signs? I know the event is just this weekend but if there is a permanent course....?

No, they're not permanent. We just had them made for the club. We put them up and take them down.
