And the timing is great - you can follow the event up with the Atlin Music Festival where Ian Tyson will be playing - http://www.atlinfestival.ca/, then paddle down the Yukon River to Dawson City for the Dawson City Music Festival - http://www.dcmf.com/

The Yukon Orienteering Association is pleased to support Canada's High Performance Program athletes and coaches; as well as the US Junior and Senior Foot-O Teams by offering a 50% discount to the Westerns on July 3-4th in Whitehorse. Three great races, and the Middle Distance Race is a WRE (if that matters to anyone).

If you are heading to Europe you can fly Whitehorse to Frankfurt on Monday July 6.

The early bird registration deadline is approaching - April 15th. The Middle Distance event is a WRE; and we have offered a half-price discount to all US and Canadian senior and junior team members (and coaches). Great pre and post event training and recreation possibilities.

Has a start time been determined for the sprint? My current plans are to drive from around Watson Lake that morning, assuming a late afternoon or evening race. I need to determine if I should modify those plans to get to Whitehorse the night before.

Also, does anyone have any advice for cell phones in the Yukon? (If US phones simply don't work there, any advice for picking up a cheap phone and plan that would allow reasonable calling to the US - I wouldn't worry too much about it except that I'll have a van load of kids whose parents will be expecting regular contact)

I can only answer your first question, since I do not have a cell phone myself. The start time for the sprint has not been set but it will likely be 18:00 or maybe 17:00 so you should be fine. I will pass your second question on.

Yes John, the middle distance terrain at Long Lake tends to leave people speechless!

We have decided to extend the early bird registration deadline to Sunday April 26th (23:59 Pacific time); so you still have a little time to save some money.

Recall also that we are offering a 50% discount to US and Canada national team members and coaches. You can also save money by flying with Air North as we have negotiated a 10% discount.

The Middle Distance race is a WRE; one of only 4 in North America this year if I am not mistaken.

A reminder that the (extended) early bird registration deadline is tonight at 23:59 pacific time. Registrations trickling in, but the many categories (including the elite fields) could be fleshed out somewhat.

Remember we are offering a 50% discount for US and Canadian national junior and senior team members and coaches.

The "who's registered" page doesn't seem to reflect those people who signed up to do different classes on different days. They are only listed under their primary age class as "all events". I don't know how easy that is to adjust but it would be nice to see (for example) who is running "up" from their normal categories in the Sprint or WRE Middle.

Hypothetically speaking, how would a member of, say, the US Senior Team take advantage of your very generous 50% discount at registration?

Do the online registration thru zone 4. Select the HPP discount and it does it automatically.

We have extended the regular registration deadline to midnight (Pacific time) on Wednesday June 17th. After that date, a late fee will apply. Don't forget - 50% off for Canadian and USA teams and Coaches.
