| World Cup Middle distance, Wangenerwald near Zürich.
I was actually quiet happy with this race when I finished. I had not had any of the rushed, not concentrated feelings during the race like at the World champs, so I felt like I had jumped over a pretty big mental hurdle. I was also aggressive in my running, active in my map reading and didn't make more than a 1 min mistake. I felt like I did well. The result was an utter disappointment. After looking at the race closely with some of the Swiss girls I could see where I made some mistakes. I didn't go straight enough often enough and every little hesitation was a huge mistake today. It was a really fast course and I just wasn't orienteering fast enough. In order to run the Sprint on Sunday, I would have had to be in the top 40 of the total World cup standings of those participating this weekend. I was number 41. I would have had to get 5 World cup points today, meaning a time 2.5 minutes faster than I was. Too bad, so close but not close enough. This season has given me mixed feelings. At some times I felt like I have made some reasonable progress and at other times I felt like I was regressing. | ||

| Running in the dark wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, I actually enjoyed it. I guess it helps when you have a super good head lamp and it's not very cold. Also up here in Magglingen you can see down to Biel and all the lights of Biel while running and it makes night time somewhat mystic and majestic. | ||
