Note
Why I like working at McMaster....

People often ask why I chose McMaster (MAC) over the Canada Research Chair at Queens or other schools in Canada. Certainly being close to family in my home town is the biggest reason. OK and the orienteering terrain on the doorstep to the campus is pretty darn good (and probably the best in the country for a University town) so thats a good reason too. But also, despite its problems (grass is always greener...), McMaster is a pretty darn good school. Proof?

Time Higher Learning University Rankings are out again. McMaster is ranked 117th (#6 in Canada and #2 behind U of T in Ontario). Not bad for a small Canadian research intensive University. Especially given that Ontario ranks 59th out of 60 in North American provinces or states in public money per capita to post secondary education (see http://www.fairness.ca for why that is).

But where the real strength of McMaster shines is the 'most widely accepted measure of research strength' of citations per faculty. ie., it considers the size of the university and looks at the quality of research being produced. In that category MAC placed an impressive 35th! (2nd only to UofT in Canada). It is pretty cool being part of that.

Great to see MAC can compete on the World stage in research against schools with much larger endowments and private money.

Wadd Squad TNT!
Ran with AdventureGirl! and Etoile on the new Bayfront Park sprint map (picking up controls from Wed. night Adventure Nite). A beautiful autumn evening and great time running on a new area. Nice map by MrPither.

Route coming soon.

Strength 20:00 [3]
just some normal strength stuff. Didn't overdo though since I'm still recovering with the workout at the gym last December with Zoolander.

Tuesday Oct 7

Core 20:00 [3]
half hard core so lets call it just core.
