Orienteering race 49:33 [5] 8.18 km (6:03 / km) +70m 5:49 / km
shoes: Inov8 mudclaw 300

EM League, Spring Cottage, Blue
knew this would be grotty and muddy, no surprises, mapping of bramble thickets was probably out of date (they've spread), took some daring route choices through the shades of green, lost time struggling to climb a fence

#5 started out a bit left then forced further by bramble [20]
#9 surely better to have headed to the track earlier [30]
#12 map hard to read here, found myself at the foot of a steep bank where none was expected, peered at map before heading up for better view [20]
#13 struggled to climb fence, hesitant in vague area around control [40]
#18 flag on thicket 60m NW of control [30]
#20 changed mind about going around the uncrossable stream when I spotted a bridge on the map, then realized there was a second stream = double banana! [70]

1st, 6mins ahead of an M14 from OD, but 10 ahead of Dai Bedwell in 3rd

Mapping 3:30:00 [0] 8.0 km (26:15 / km) +25m 25:51 / km
shoes: Inov8 mudclaw 300

first visit to Stapleford, not too bad underneath the pines, but most of the rough open has become semi-open/plantation or walk :(

3 PM

running 45:45 [3] 8.17 km (5:36 / km) +30m 5:30 / km
shoes: Inov8 Race Ultra 290

Stapleford East
after surveying, ran around the perimeter paths on the east side of the wood, to get an idea of what might have changed and so on, surprisingly the forestry work appears to have removed bramble/rhoddies in two sections, tripped and bruised two fingers

running 50:30 [3] 9.07 km (5:34 / km) +150m 5:09 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Stanton Spiderwebs
steady one criss-crossing Stanton Moor on trails and in terrain, lovely evening

running warm up/down 17:05 [3] 3.43 km (4:59 / km) +50m 4:39 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Hitogami 2

steady run around Morledge and down to the park along the Derwent for intervals

running intervals 26:52 [5] 5.51 km (4:53 / km) +10m 4:50 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Hitogami 2

5 x 1km, off 90secs: 3.49 3.51 3.51 3.46 3.49

better, consistent, but didn't really max out (as ever), last interval was along the Derwent on the way back, lost a few seconds checking watch for distance near the end

running warm up/down 7:16 [1] 1.07 km (6:47 / km) +20m 6:13 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Hitogami 2

easy jog back from the other side of the Derwent

shoes: Jalas FLX

westmost part of Shining Cliff (not including Peat Pit Woods), some divergence from the previous map ...

running 1:25:56 [2] 12.8 km (6:43 / km) +385m 5:50 / km
shoes: Inov8 Race Ultra 290

Holloway, Cromfor Moor, Bow Woods, Riber, Dethick
sloppy one, and the race ultras proved inferior to the mudclaws, not far, but plenty of climbs, two mins of breaks in total
