Orienteering race (urban) 46:20 [5] 8.77 km (5:17 / km) +75m 5:04 / km
ahr:159 max:169 (injured) shoes: Helly Hansen Trailcutter 3

EM Urban League, Loughborough Campus
an urban on a sprint area, more technical than usual so more fun, hit the wall (a bit) after 20mins (was 2nd at that point), ankle got sore after 10-15mins

#12 stayed high to avoid extra climb up embankment, but they were 2.5m contours [10]
#14 changed plan, this was the map 'exchange' and had trouble finding the new leg on the reverse, when I did I saw straight was an option, but a) the crossable fence was v difficult to cross and I had to go through some light green and the stream [40]
#16 read wrong code on description sheet, but returned pretty quick [10]
#17 tried to cut the corner through the undergrowth (fullbody covered had been required, but if it hadn't been I'd have gone around) [20]
#18 turned to sharply reaching car park and almost made 90° error [20]
#19 couldn't see whether there was a way out on the other side of the bridge so went around lake, but there was [30]
#20 didn't see steps beyond the building, my route was longer [15]
#21 misread thickness of black line so left around building was better [15]
#28 tried to cut through the residence buildings, no gain, and ran slower [20]

5th 5mins behind Charl Ward

Note
(injured) (rest day)

side of foot quite sore last night, pain located about 1.5cm below left ankle, no visible bruising, hurts when pressed (duh) and when signifiant weight place on heel, feels like there's a small lump underneath the skin at this point ... some sort of bruise?

this wasn't fun, outside of left foot sore for the first 25mins or so, lots of niggles, bit slow given the average HR

ahr:158 max:169 shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 7

5 x 1km, off 90secs: 4.04 4.01 4.08 4.04 4.06

there was a time when I'd have been suffering every which way to come up with times like these, that's my only consolation, simply wasn't working hard enough, still I couldn't believe the Garmin when I saw these times, thought I was 6-10 seconds faster

running warm up/down 7:59 [1] 1.36 km (5:52 / km) +20m 5:28 / km

Matlock Bath & Back
missed the turning for the Bull & Harp and the guys didn't wait for me so returned home and did a proper recovery run following the Derwent, pretty flat but the Garmin recorded 56m elevation gain.
