12 PM

Orienteering race 39:40 [4] 3.86 km (10:17 / km) +105m 9:03 / km
ahr:148 max:166 shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

EM League, Shining Cliff, Brown
forest was VERY rough, map was unreliable, (some) controls were hidden, knocked it on the head at 10 with 60% of the course to go

2 PM

Orienteering (control collecting) 42:00 [3] 3.72 km (11:17 / km) +150m 9:24 / km
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

collected ccntrols in the north end, which I didn't reach during the race, some nice bits there, and some more dodgy mapping, ran fairly steadily for the first half while carrying only 3-4 stakes, more enjoyable than the event

running tempo 35:41 [4] 7.03 km (5:05 / km) +120m 4:41 / km
ahr:147 max:165 shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Oker Loop
recently up-dated the Oker map with LIDAR data so it's time to visit it again, thought about doing some ad-hoc hill intervals, but the run out was so quick I decided to make it a tempo run

(new fastest time)

Orienteering race 46:27 [4] 8.18 km (5:41 / km) +120m 5:17 / km
ahr:150 max:171 shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

Army Event, Sherwood Pines, Blue
lots of forestry workings and an already out of date map meant this was a game of 'guess the terrain', a good exercise in the basics (distance, direction, and reading the shape of the land), pace was full on

(course distance 7km)

Note
(sick) (rest day)

bit of a head cold today, a reaction to my visit to the dentist yesterday? (a crown)

Note

Did I lose any time on #13 by cutting through the mid-green?

QH took the path and beat me by 24secs, but I would expect him to beat me by that amount. Inded, he was 34secs faster on the preceding 'long' leg and there was no route choice or navigational error on that leg. I notice I was only 10secs behind the best split for the same leg on Black.

Arguably, then, I gained a few seconds. Thoughts?

7 PM

running 1:02:49 [2] 10.11 km (6:13 / km) +275m 5:28 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Winster, Stanton Moor, Winster
got a lift with Cloughie and waited a half hour for the rest to turn up, or not turn up, so it had to be an easy one up to Stanton Moor and back, good climb at the end, cold tonight, but dry
