Note

Day 1 of the new year was supposed to feature a nice warm up all way to a sweltering 10F, on the back of fully sunny day. And the sun was out all day long, just like it was supposed to be. As for the vaunted warm up--not so much. It only got up to 2F in town. The culprit was probably a too cold night that went down much lower than forecast, and there just wasn't enough oomph in the sun to claw out of what was quit e deep hole of cold.

But it seemed to be a tiny bit warmer up top, and the only thing that really got cold was my feet, while skiing. Running was fine, however. And I was able to go with just a knit cap, instead of a knit cap plus face mask like yesterday.

Ran into racer X8A7, who seemed to be at once thrilled to be back on some real snow in the Cowboy State, but a little bit depressed at the lack of vigorous wind on the frosty day. I tried to cheer him up: "Don't worry, I'm sure the wind will be better next time you hit the trails!" I couldn't tell if it worked or not.
