Note

It was pretty warm in Laramie today, and when it came time to run something down to the Post, the obvious choice was to hop on my bike. So I did!

On the way, I passed a college age runner who was running in shorts and no shirt. Sometimes when you see that you can wonder if they're just being macho or something, but not this guy. You could tell from quite a distance he was a sweater--he was all sheeny with sweat. Poor dude. He probably suffers mightily in summer.

Then I passed a bulldog laying down on a sidewalk in the sun. It was panting from the heat. True, that's mostly all bulldogs do anyway. That made me think about what good bulldogs are anyway, besides panting. I couldn't come up with much. Basically, unless you're the University of Georgia football team, there is absolutely no good reason to have a bulldog.

As you can tell, it was quite a bike ride.

Then I headed up to ski. Conditions were quite pleasant. It was cooler up top and felt like some cooler air was in the process of arriving. But it still didn't feel even remotely close to what a typical winter day at Happy Jack should feel like. Maybe it will be winter tomorrow, but somehow I don't think so. I really wish it would snow a whole lot real soon--several feet would be really fine--because there has been far too little Yowsa! so far.

Then I came home and had dinner. I wanted something easy to make, so I had some powdered donuts and a chocolate milkshake. Very easy, good, and, an added plus, somewhere I recently read that's what many elite orienteers are eating for dinner these days. Hard to argue with donuts.
