Note

Tick off another totally overcast day, with mixed areas of ground level clearness and fog up top. Light snow during the day, and snow cover at Happy Jack was at about 1 1/2". In other words, ski conditions were excellent, were it Houston or maybe even Ft. Worth.

And I did in fact see skiers: the college club team was out doing some running drills with ski poles on a loop using Upper UW. I told them with the sorts of excellent conditions (for Houston) that were evident, they should have their skis on. They mostly ignored me, which was of course the correct choice.

I ran for about two hours at the pace of a dying bumblebee. It was quite pleasant despite being overcast, because there was no wind and I was mostly out of the fog.

The forecast for the next week is looking pretty solidly seasonably cold, so the snow is going to hang around. And digging season (mineral specimens) looks to be done.
