trail run 45:00 [3]

Pertes de la Valserine

Less water than last time I was here, but still impressive how it gets lost.

Mainly it was an excuse to go shopping in Bellegarde, which has good butchers and bakers and especially fruit and veg shops and a random shoe-repair shop with (new) shoes that fit me, so spent lots of money today.

Also, booked a train ticket to poor Paris, and entered this. There's an evening flight (also booked!) from Orly to Dublin that evening, so I might even make it to Waterford on the night of the 20th.

Foot was a little tender earlier in the week, but seems fine now. Another expedition tomorrow.

Note

In the absence of cinnamon buns, I ate 4 pains au chocolat and a couple of croissants today, in moderation.

Out for 5h40, que du soleil.... Mont Roc to Tré le Champ to Lac Blanc, then the wrong way plus some cross-country to la Flégère, the right way to Plan Praz, descent to Chamonix, bought some pastry and made it to the station two minutes before the train came to take me back to my car. Happy days.

Not sure what the GPS was doing, but I reckon the climb was something like 1400m. Maybe it was interacting with the phone?

The illustrated version. Pretty spectacular all the way, and maybe 12º, I certainly sweated a lot on the way up the hill.

There were plenty of climbers out and about today, trail runners too, to the point I didn't feel particularly unusual. Aiguille d'Argentière :

Then up some scary ladders.

And the prize

I didn't bring ice-skates

In case there wasn't enough Mt Blanc in your life, sun was slowly descending.

So I did too, after a down-up to Plan Praz.

At some point I might train enough to be able to run more. Pretty fun as is, though. Only ate industrial cake during the balade, worked ok. And 2l of water was just about enough. Sunny November is great.
