orienteering (Renmark Schools sprint) 45:00 [4] 6.1 km (7:23 / km)
shoes: Asics Nimbus 19

Day trip to/from Renmark with G & parents so I could test-run Robin's elite courses for the Aust Sprint Champs on a surprisingly complex area. Great fun and kept me thinking hard, especially when I had to imagine the invisible artificial fences (think I may have been disqualified on the way to the 2nd control). After crossing on the ferry @Lyrup and picnicking by the river we took back roads through the mallee in search of the farm where mum's mother grew up. No less than 3 now-defunct railways originally traversed the Murray Mallee; it's hard to believe that farms out there were ever prosperous/plentiful enough to warrant this.

swimming 35:00 [3] 1.0 km (35:00 / km)

Pool closes for the winter this weekend so it's probably the last swim until September, unless I go for a dip in an Italian lake or the Baltic :)

running (Belair night) 1:02:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 22

Casual social run with Zara (& Callum of course) up along the southern boundary of the park and back via Long Gully.

swimming 34:00 [3]

Nearly cross-eyed with tiredness from having been 2 people at work the past few weeks but I don't want to let the pre-WMOC training slip. Realised that I have forgotten to learn Italian though and am probably not going to get around to it in the next 4 weeks.

orienteering race (WOD Thorndon Park) 27:32 [3]
shoes: Asics 2000-4

The now-annual Clive & Marion World Orienteering Day night O, with each control representing a country. It wasn't quite as frantic from the mass start this year because some people had taken the earlier/daylight option, and I was running on my own for most of this but therefore getting less distracted by other people's headlamps than last time. Had to infer quite a lot of detail because I just can't read the map by torchlight, but still had lots of fun and enjoyed the bonus sausage sizzle (got to them before the cub scouts did) afterwards.

running (North Adelaide) 35:36 [3] 6.6 km (5:24 / km)
shoes: Asics Nimbus 19

Pyramid intervals (200, 400, 600, 400, 200) but I just wasn't able to run anywhere near fast enough to keep up with the group. Squeezed in between an un-fun day at work and an un-fun meeting. (There's nothing fun about 43 anyway except that it's a prime number.)

running 30:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 19

Home from the supermarket @Pasadena. Couldn't work out why I had "Stand By Me" running through my head - until I remembered the gospel choir at the royal wedding broadcast!

running long 1:39:40 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 22

Over to Mitcham, Brownhill Creek behind caravan park, up Carrick Hill & along behind Waite, back through the suburbs by which time neuroma was really making its presence known, after yesterday. Still this was a couple min faster than when I last did it (in August - I really haven't done enough long runs lately). Followed by walking up & down Mt Lofty with a friend/colleague, so we will see what my knees are like tomorrow.
