orienteering (Charles Darwin Uni ) 27:00 [3] 3.1 km (8:43 / km)
shoes: Asics Kayano 21

To my surprise, it was cloudy when we flew into Darwin and so after visiting Zoe & making the acquaintance of baby Freddie I decided to run the M21 sprint course from the excellent 2012 NOL races, which did a couple of laps of the uni and finished off at Dripstone Cliffs, where I again saw a pair of rainbow bee eaters flitting around :) I took this pretty easy because it was 30ish, and thankfully there was a coastal breeze, although I was hot enough by the end! After a refreshing dip in the pool at SLE's we spent the evening with them and other friends at Malak markets.

Redwoods run with Zara/Callum, Nick & Angus and the smell of violets when we passed the enchanted patch along the creek. Dropped around to the Uppills' afterwards to see their maps from Estonia & Italy and discuss next year's programme/nationals - which is why I'm now eating dinner @11pm.

running (Mitcham) 47:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 22

Slept badly again - guess I should be grateful for a few good nights - and figured some fresh air might help this morning, but legs were very stiff & slow and even the ducks sitting high up in a gum tree by the creek laughed at me. Probably need to get some new running shoes; might have time for this next week in Darwin?

running 57:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 2000-4

Staggered up Hillrise (very tight painful calves & arches) then down through the quarries & around the suburbs for a bit - admired the large almond tree in full blossom by Lynton station. Eventually felt better by the end but am definitely going to be underdone for a 6hr rogaine in 3 weeks' time.

Suburban plod after dark and after rain, so I was careful with foot placement on both counts, also a bit stiff after an afternoon spent gardening (involved inexpert pruning of apple and pear trees). Lots of Indian women in colourful saris were emerging from the showgrounds as I passed by. No way I'd have had the energy for an 11km course at Worlds End today.
