Note
(sick) (rest day)

Upper respiratory infection. Death comes for us all.

I put a small set of my favourite photos on my DSLR from NAOC here:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/51250954@N07/albums/...

I probably should prune this further. I should have set the duration of my arena finish chute shots to 1/1000 or 1/500th of a second, but because I didn't, most are annoyingly blurry. This photo of Tori Owen was one of the few where the blurryness sort of works and there aren't portable toilets in the background. I also should have brought my 70-300mm lens for the sports action.

Today, I auditioned for and was accepted to the Hart House Chorus as a Bass 1 (i.e. a discount bass).

Note

I am frustrated with how dysfunctional we as the OUSA Board of Directors are. Our documentation is inadequate, we don't have our information collected in one spot, and our task management and planning tool is e-mail. This has frustrated me since I joined the Board, but I am determined to do something about it. Bob Forgrave made great strides with google drive, but we haven't fully integrated it into our daily use.

My goals to this end before the end of 2018:
  1. Fully migrate all our Board documentation to google drive. If it isn't in the drive, then it doesn't exist.
  2. Get the Board and OUSA leadership to adopt a project management tool, e.g. basecamp. I played around with Freedcamp in 2016, but I wasn't fully convinced of its capabilities or that it would be widely adopted. There are numerous pros and cons to all the tools - Asana, Basecamp, Freedcamp, Slack, Trello, Jira, Glip, Podio, Wrike, Mavenlink, etc - but any tool is an improvement over e-mail.
  3. Organize our documentation so it's accessible. I'm leaning towards using a wiki for OUSA policies, strategies, processes, committees, and so on.

Biking 40:00 [1] 16.0 km (24.0 kph)

I finally bought a new helmet to replace my previous one, which was cracked in my crash last week. The crack was subtle but visible, and the helmet had served me well for a good ten years.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

I seem to have caught a cold - symptoms appeared over the weekend of running nose, malaise, some coughing, and congestion. I suspect a mild upper respiratory infection and am treating with rest, fluids, pseudoephedrine, occasional ibuprofen, and Vicks Vaporub at night to help me sleep (in a moustache configuration).
