O: SOL7/VHI Inshriach. Brown/M35(!): 8.1km, for Ireland. First time on a 1:15k map in a while! Was really looking forward to this but unfortunately was awake feeling ill all night, and couldn't face breakfast, so started on empty. Started to feel better after I'd thrown up for the third time in the course by #8, but that left me so dehydrated that I was struggling with cramp after 60-70 minutes. Concentration went, too, and made a five minute error in the tricky stuff. Crawled around the final section in a daze, but I finished and earned my points. Shame - it was a decent course on a very fine area. TRIMP 200.7.

A wee note re my previous beef about the creeping cost of events, and some humble pie eating. It was very clear where the costs went to this weekend - it was a premier event in every respect, and worth every penny! BASOC did a bang-up job. Whether event entry costs are generally going up is another matter but, IMHO, this event was far more worthy of the entry cost than any number of other premier events I could name. I shall now shut my big fat mouth up!
