running warm up/down 40:00 [2] 6.0 km (6:40 / km) +270m 5:27 / km

The way to the start was 4.4 km! It took forever to get there... I got there just in time for my start, but was a little surprised to only have 3 minutes to spare. This threw me off a little and had trouble concentrating before the start.

Orienteering race 45:11 [5] 3.8 km (11:53 / km) +170m 9:43 / km

Hum... not such a great race... I was too rushed in the beginning, wanting to run fast and wasn't taking enough time to read the map. Lost 1 minute already to number 1 and 3, oops! Affter the road crossing I tried to slow down my erge to hurry and start over, but then I hestiated a lot going to 6, never really sure and not wanting to go down too far, loosing another 45 seconds. 7-10 were ok, but I took a stupid route to 11, not wanting to go too far out of the way around the hill, so I went straight. I really thought I was going to die while climbing the hill and my head got really really hot. It was 25ish degrees and really humid, felt aweful! I really had huge physical and mental problems climbing the hill and started to drift to the left, not wanting the climb. In the end, I ended up just as far away from the control as the "run-around" route, just on the other end of the hill. Stupid. Should have gone around on the trail. I was fading physically after the long hill and kept making mistakes. All in all, I just did a crappy job of reading the map. I never made any big mistakes, but I lost time on most controls, mostly in the control cirlce. I felt very uncertain and had no confidence. In the end I think I lost probably between 5-6 minutes in mistakes. Unacceptable. The sad part is, i also didn't have very much fun. I have trouble when I am "trying to be good" as it makes it hard to be relaxed and have fun. The latter usually creates the better results too. Ugg.

running 15:00 [1] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)

Running back to the competition center after the race. Knee sore.
