Orienteering race 15:20 [5] 2.25 km (6:49 / km) +84m 5:45 / km

Sprint race in Aix-les-Bains. Today we did two sprints (which I set the courses for), a quali in Aix-les-Bains and the final (chase start) in Chambery. I started this sprint directly after starting the last of the athletes. Changed my shoes, grabbed my SI and compass and started. Trying to run full speed without warming up is hard, especially when going to a similar 1st control like in the Quali at WOC - all up hill-

I ran a good race, but I knew the route choices, so it's not totally fair. Ended up being the faster of the girls and 5th of the boys.

Warming up and picking up most of the controls

Orienteering race 12:08 [5] 2.2 km (5:31 / km)

Sprint chase start in Chambery with butterfly loops. This was fun! We started everyone in the order of the results from the quali, but instead of doing a true chase start, we started everyone 20 seconds apart. The courses went into two big loops (butterfly loops) just after the first control, so you couldn't follow, since the person doing your loop started 40 seconds before you. I ran well technically until the 9th control. Fell into my own trap (good course setting when the course setting makes the mistake you thought could happen?!?) and didn't realize the control was in the second alley-way in the corner. Lost 45 seconds there. Setting this course was not as helpful as in the morning, since this one was really twisty and turny in alleyways in the village and this morning was all in a park, fairly straight forward, etc. It was cool to run my own courses, I feel like it gave me a good feedback on what worked and what didn't work.
