Orienteering race 34:53 [4] 4.93 km (7:05 / km) +100m 6:26 / km

BOC Relays M40 - First team, second leg with Rog and Dave G.
I attacked this course and enjoyed it but missed at 4 (1 min) and near the end (1 min) so failed in my primary aim of going clean.
SYO were too good for us today - Andy P had a brilliant 1st leg and they stayed there thereafter. SILVER for Team FVO 1, Bronze for FVO 2 (incl Brad's 2nd GB Champs medal in 4 months!).

Great weekend!

Orienteering race 1:09:18 [4] 8.7 km (7:58 / km) +310m 6:46 / km

BOC Long Distance Champs, Balmoral.
Nervous about this and not sure about my form but as soon as I was climbing over the hill towards one all thoughts were away and I was into the map and running for sheer pleasure. I haven't had that feeling of fitness and terrain ability this year yet and it was a real joy to be able to attack the course and feel like I was going well. Steve Nich was kind to us and we circumvented the first hill rather than climb which was a bonus for me. I missed big time at 4 (5 mins) but seen as I'd caught Fraser (who'd missed bigger) I assumed that most folk would miss time here and wasn't so neg'd out by it. Unfortunately I missed 5 too (1 min) which was all down to just compass running and not map reading. I wasn't that clean for the rest of the course but the combination of strong running and minor misses helped secure a SILVER medal, 4 mins behind Andy S. Yippee!

Note
(rest day)

Definitely not training or working in the garden today - despite the sun.
Might liquid carbo load later mind :-)

Run 30:00 [2]

Newton PS Running Club.
Up to Dykedale wood for some fun loop relay racing in terrain. I can never get this session to work teams-wise but the kids love the competitive element, suffer the terrain element and before you now it it's time to head back and they're all wondering where the time went.

More stone moving and log splitting at home whilst the main build gets into full swing - one mega skip already filled and replaced.

Orienteering 56:00 [3]

Barr Wood WEE.
Lovely wood, sunny evening all god in mind.... but not in body... Knackered from yesterday's hill reps and laboring at home. Decided to quite whilst I was up the hill and jogged back, only to go and collect most of those that I'd missed.
Lovely area but I wasn't there tonight.

Run hills 1:07:56 [4] 9.2 km (7:23 / km) +283m 6:24 / km

Hill Reps for the last time this year :-)
With Jon (the monster long repper) and Lewis (didn't see him for dust).
Turned up hungry (salad lunches are not good for powering evening sessions!), ignored the body and stuck in behind Jon for the longs and had just enough pace to hold him off on the shorts. Great session, good booster seeing the times come down.
